Oscar Nominations for 2018 Announced

Announced this morning, here are the Academy Award nominations 2018. The Shape of Water leads the pack with 13 Oscar nominations followed up by eight for Dunkirk and Three Billboards garnering seven.

Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird received nominations for her original screenplay and she became the fifth woman ever nominated for best director. Another newcomer filmmaker, Jordan Peele, is only the third person to receive best picture, directing and writing nominations for his first film, Get Out. (Warren Beatty did so with Heaven Can Wait in 1978, followed by James L. Brooks with Terms of Endearment in 1983.) He is the fifth black director to be nominated.

The 90th Academy Awards will be held on March 4.
